Montrose Grace Place
Montrose Grace Place is an organization that serves homeless youth in the Montrose area of Houston. We were founded by members of Grace Lutheran Church in 2009, and became a separately incorporated 501 (c )3 organization in 2011. Our mission is not to evangelize, convert, judge or shame, but to provide a safe, welcoming environment for vulnerable homeless youth of all sexualities and gender identities, providing nourishment, healthy relationships and hope for the future.

So far our funding has come from the congregation of Grace Lutheran Church, private donors, and an ELCA Hunger Grant. Our donors and partners include a wide variety of individuals and groups, including the Montrose Counseling Center, the Houston Coalition for the Homeless, Central City Co-Op, Open Gate Ministries, Fresh Start Community Haven, Stand Up for Kids, Houston Stonewall Young Democrats, various other organizations supporting homeless youth and area churches including Bering United Methodist,  Resurrection MCC, Covenant Church, St. Stephens Episcopal, Salem Lutheran, St. Paul's Methodist and Christ the King Lutheran.

After a year in the planning stages, we opened our doors to homeless youth for the first time in June of  2010. Youth Night is once a week from 6pm to 10pm. We welcome homeless youth between the ages of 13 and 21 and provide them with a healthy dinner served family style with our volunteers, followed by a creative group activity and a facilitated peer discussion group. We have a clothing and toiletries closet to provide the youth with access to needed supplies.

We rely on volunteers to keep Montrose Grace Place running. To volunteer for Montrose Grace Place please fill out the volunteer application at You will need to download the application, complete it, and send as an attachment to  View a full list of volunteer opportunities HERE.
