Maundy Thursday
April 2, 2015
Worship at 6:00 PM
St. Stephen’s Episcopal
Church,
1805 W. Alabama, Houston,
Texas 77098
This Thursday is called "Maundy," which
means "command," from the verse in John's gospel in which Jesus
commands us to love another as he loved us.
Good Friday – April 3, 2015
Worship at 7:00 PM
Good Friday focus is on the passion according to John, proclaiming Jesus
as a triumphant king who reigns from the cross. The ancient title for this
day—the triumph of the cross—reminds us that the church gathers not to mourn
but to celebrate Christ's life-giving passion and to find strength and hope in
the tree of life.
Easter Vigil - Saturday, April 4
Worship at 7:00 PM
In the darkness of Jesus' death, Christians gather to
keep vigil and await the dawn — to pray, sing, and remind one another of God's
promises and salvation. The Vigil of Easter reflects many of life's dramatic
journeys and the Old Testament stories appointed for the Vigil are powerful
companions for the journey.
Easter - Sunday, April 5
Worship at 10:30 AM
The story of the risen Jesus continues in the mission
of the church, Christ's body. The possibility of resurrection draws us into a
community that lives out the middle of its story in the hope and witness of
Christ's new life.
