A Rainy AIDS Walk

Team “Grace Lutheran Church” raised 109% of its goal of $2,500 for the AIDS Walk Houston 5K event on March 10. For the second year in a row, severe rain was forecasted for the walk date and, sure enough, there was a downpour! 

Rainy weather neither dampened our spirits, however, nor deterred members of the team from participating. Starting on the steps of City Hall, team Grace members walked the 3.1-mile route from downtown to Montrose along Allen Parkway to raise money and awareness for AIDS Foundation Houston. Our fundraising efforts totaled $2,725.00. 

Many thanks to our team members, including co-captain Patrick James, Greg Eilmann, Adrian Alavarez, Craig Tallent, Melvin Ray and Patty Ahern. Also a HUGE note of thanks to our spectacular donors, whose financial contributions will benefit several Houston programs involving prevention and education for the public, as well as support services for those living with HIV/AIDS and their families. 

As of March 14th, AIDS Foundation Houston had raised 67% of its goal of $750,000.00. They accept contributions to the AIDS Walk through mid-April. To learn more about the organization and make a donation, visit www.aidshelp.org.
