Julio from El Salvador Visits Houston
Pastor
Julio César Chávez Aguilar from El Buen Pastor Lutheran Church in Usulután, El
Salvador will be visiting Houston March 8-18.
New
Hope Lutheran Church in Missouri City, sister parish of El Buen Pastor, has
invited Pr. Julio to come to Houston to share his experiences of ministry in El
Salvador. We at Grace have been invited
to join Pastor Julio at the following events during his stay to get to know him
as well.
- On Sunday, March 10 Pastor Julio has been invited to vest and process at the ordination of Adriana Johnson-Rivas at 4pm at Príncipe de Paz Lutheran Church, 1063 Edgebrook Drive near I-45 South in SE Houston. (This celebration of Word and Sacrament will be led by mariachi musicians. A meal and celebration will take place following worship.)\
- On Wednesday, March 13 at 7pm Pastor Julio will offer the homily at our weekly. Lenten Vesper service. Please join us for worship, a light soup supper, and a time for question and answer.
- On Friday, March 15 at 6:30pm Príncipe de Paz will host Pastor Julio for a meal and fellowship.
- On Sunday, March 17 at 10:30am Pastor Julio will preach at Grace. Service will be followed by a potluck lunch.
In
addition to these opportunities, two more evenings of food and fellowship are
being planned. A Texas barbecue and a
traditional Thanksgiving dinner complete with turkey, dressing, and all of the
trimmings.
