Pride Parade Plans - Update

Hello Grace Pride folk! Updates on our prep for June 25 Pride Houston Festival & Parade. Remember Pride Houston Festival & Parade is Saturday, June 25 from 1-7 pm, Parade starts at 8:15 pm this year :

• FESTIVAL
o Fest hours are 1-7 p.m., not 12-7 as I earlier stated. For those who host Grace's booth that day, shifts will be 12-1p (set-up); 1-3p; 3-5p; 5-7:30p. Please consider devoting 2 hours to introduce Grace ELC to our community!
o Shawn Lasley & I went to Arne’s on Thursday & picked a few festival giveaways (stickers, notepads, tattoos, helium balloons). I’ll bring ‘em to church tomorrow to let you decide what’s most interesting…
o Display will have info about Grace & our work with Montrose Grace Place, & we’ll be seeking volunteers to help us with our outreach to homeless youth ages 13-21.
o Booth location, btw, is NW corner of Lovett & Yoakum (1 block S of Westheimer, 1 block W of Montrose). Our Booth # is C16.

• PARADE
o What will we do this year? The theme is Live. Love. Be. Whatever that means to you, express that during the parade & you’ll fit in!
o General consensus is that music is nice but not essential for the parade. Also, Grace is right in front of Resurrection MCC who usually has a full choir. Therefore, we’ll enjoy THEIR music instead of competing with our own…
o Throws: we may have a group interested in DONATING our throws! Stay tuned…
o Parade participants meet at Grace starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 (not 3 p, as stated earlier). We’ll gather at 5:30p to make signs, then walk to parade site at 7p sharp.
o Costumes: wear what you like, whether red or tie-dyed Grace t-shirts, something you make special for the parade, or whatever you’re wearing that day. ANYTHING GOES (except nudity, ha ha)!

More later; in meantime, flash that Pride!
