Grace Lutheran Church will celebrate Christmas Eve with an evening full of events. Festivities begin with an intimate “Family Style” Christmas Eve Service at 7:30 and continue with Caroling in the Montrose neighborhood at 9:00 pm. The evening concludes with special candlelight Christmas eve service at 11:00 pm which will end at midnight to welcome the official start of Christmas.
The 7:30 service will feature traditional Christmas hymns sung with simple piano accompaniment, harkening back to the traditions of small family Lutheran churches.
Caroling will begin at 9:00. Carolers are invited to bring their favorite secular and religious songs to sing as Grace serenades our neighbors. Singers are invited to stay for the 11:00 o’clock service, but anyone who only wishes to come for caroling is welcomed. Refreshments will be served in the church’s fellowship hall before and after caroling.
The 11:00 Christmas Eve Service will feature guest organist Dr. Robert Bennett, formerly professor of Organ at St. Thomas University. This traditional service will include familiar hymns and carols. The service concludes at midnight with a candlelit signing of ‘Silent Night’, a long standing Grace tradition.
People of all faith traditions, or no faith tradition, are invited to join Grace as we celebrate Christmas. As a Reconciling in Christ Church, Grace welcomes all people regardless of gender, race, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.
