Grace Lutheran Church’s annual Fair Trade Fair will be held on Nov. 21st and 28th, before and after the church service. We are again bringing beautiful handcrafts right into our congregation and community!The selection this year has something for every one! More than one billion people live on less than $1 a day; another 2.7 billion struggle on less than $2 a day. And income inequality is increasing around the world. Globally, nearly 200 million people are unemployed, while millions more are underemployed and don't have enough work or income to support their families.
Fair Trade is a mission of Lutheran World Relief, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating poverty everywhere it resides.
They partner with SERRV (Sales Exchange for Refugee Rehabilitation and Vocation.), a nonprofit Fair Trade organization with 60 years of experience, to bring you the LWR Handcraft Project. They donate 7.5% of the value of the handcrafts to support the important work of Lutheran World Relief. SERRV currently works with 75 community groups in 36 countries.
Through the LWR Handcraft Project, you can enjoy beautiful Fair Trade handcrafts and improve the lives of artisans around the world at the same time.
When employment is scarce or wages are too low, children suffer the most. They may have to work long hours in fields or factories to help support the family rather than attend school. Families without reliable income can't provide sufficient and nutritious food or access basic health care, both of which negatively affect their children's health and development.
With every handcraft you purchase, you help artisans and their families to build better lives. They are able to send their children to school, feed their families and work their way out of poverty, so invite your friends! They’ll get a jump shot on their holiday gift lists, you’ll help to improve the lives of others - and it’s a good excuse to invite someone to church!
