National Night Out is October 5 in Lamar Park

Hal CoreHow many people in the neighborhood around Grace know us by face? By name? By common interests?

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is a national program that heightens crime and drug prevention awareness, generates support for local anticrime-programs, strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community relationships, and sends a message that neighborhoods are organized and committed to greater safety. But, it’s also a great way for Grace folks to get to know our neighbors better.

Hyde Park Civic Association usually gathers in Lamar Park for food, drink and fellowship. This year it will be Tuesday, October 5th from 6-9:00 p.m. Grace typically provides desserts but we also loan out our church tables and chairs for the event.

Can you spare a few hours on October 5th to participate in this important community-building opportunity? Friendly Grace faces (and Grace t-shirts) are always welcome.

If you can’t help with set-up or take-down that evening, consider making a batch of fudge, cookies, brownies, blondies, oatmeal bars (you get the idea) to round out the meal provided by local restaurants. Just deliver them to Grace by October 5th and they will get to the appropriate hands (we promise).

However, our presence is the best impact we can make on our community, so let’s show up on October 5th to offer a big “Grace Welcome” – it’s one of our gifts! Contact the church office for more information or details.
